Die-Formed Graphite Rings with Controlled Density and Tolerance Molding Pressure · Density Control · Batch Traceability

Die-formed rings are not braided packing cut into circles. They are molded under controlled pressure from flexible graphite to reach a target density, dimensional tolerance, and permeability — which is why they hold gland load where braided packing extrudes, and why the process has to be documented, not just claimed.

How Die-Formed Rings Are Made

STEP 01

Graphite Selection

Flexible graphite grade selected for carbon content, ash, and intended service temperature.

STEP 02

Mold Setup

Mold dimensioned to the ring OD, ID, and thickness; pressed per drawing.

STEP 03

Compression

Controlled pressure to reach target density, with density recorded per batch.

STEP 04

Finishing

Dimensional check, edge finishing, and thickness tolerance verification.

STEP 05

Testing

Density, compressive strength, carbon content, and ash measured on the lot.

STEP 06

Batch Packing

Ring stacks labeled with batch ID for traceability and MTR linkage.
